Kindergarten pre-enrollment will be held for Columbus USD #493 on April 6 thru 9. All students who will reach the age of five on or before August 31, 2009 will pre-enroll. You must call your school to make an appointment for your child to be pre-enrolled.

Parents need to bring a copy of their immunization record completed at this time. Kansas law requires the original state birth certificate and a physical. USD #493 must have the birth certificate at enrollment time in August for your child to attend school. The date of the physicals must be completed by November 19, 2009.

The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas will be at the screening to offer Free Health Assessments, Free immunizations at no out-of-pocket expense. (Immunizations will be billed for those who have insurance coverage, however any expenses not covered will be written off). You must have an up-to-date immunization card with you.

Hospital birth certificates will not be accepted. The school must have a birth certificate from the State.

If you need to obtain a birth certificate, it may be obtained by writing to that stateís capitol for the birth certificate.

It is very important that eligible children be brought to the pre-enrollment so that readiness for kindergarten may be determined.

The school nurse and school psychologist will want to visit with parents and children.

The enrollment and screening will take from one to two hours.

The dates for pre-enrollment at the various attendance center are: April 6 in Scammon from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 7, 8, and 9 at Park School, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
