The County Commissioners met in secret session with Jim Dahmen, Columbus Telephone Executive Director, under the exemption to the Kansas open-meetings law for discussion of possible purchase of property. The commissioners took no vote after the closed meeting.

“It represents a substantial number of jobs,” Dahmen said of the prospect. When asked to be more specific, he said it probably would result in more than 500 jobs.

“It’s a green technology company from an environmental viewpoint,” he said. “He said the County would be in competition with several other states for this potential industry.

 “I have to assume this is a pretty competitive project,” he said before the meeting Monday. “Around ten states are competing for the company.
