The Cherokee County F.C.E. Council met on March 17 at the Extension Office. Retha Keely, vice president, presided. Roll call and the pledge to the flag preceded the meeting.

A letter was received from the Allen County Council president outlining plans for the Southeast Area FCE Recognition Day in Iola. The theme will be “Celebrating Life Long Learning”, and the date is May 6. Reservations need to be in by April 17.

The date for the Spring Tea has been changed to April 24 at 1 p.m. when Denise Dias will speak on “Kansas to Kenya”. This is open to the public.

The Walk Kansas program has registered 19 teams this year and the walking has begun.

A lesson training for “Vary Your Protein” is scheduled for March 31 in Parsons. Local members are given suggestions and information on how to present the lesson to her unit. Several counties come together for the training.

A report on a March meeting for the state conference was given by Retha Keely. Speakers have been selected, tours planned and meal providers contracted. The conference is October 5 thru 7 in Pittsburg Memorial Hall. You may be interested in some of the speakers. Names and topics will be announced closer to the October date.

Final plans for the Spring Tea were made and duties assigned. Two “buckets” to be used as table centerpieces at conferences were filled before the meeting adjourned.
