Charlene Hunley is a Repubiclan canddate for County Clerk and has been a Cherokee County Resident all of her life with the exception of 3 years when she moved to Hutchinson, Kansas to attend Business School. She currently works for ATEC Steel as Human Resource Manager/Assistant Controller. She has one son, Mike (Safety Coordinator for Cintas Corporation) who is married to Janet (Administrative Assistant for Empire District Electric) and has two grandchildren, Chance (who will be a senior) and Grace (who will be in the 4th grade) at the Riverton School. Charlene attended Labette Community College where she received two Associate Degrees. One is Accounting and the other in Industrial Supervision. She attended Pittsburg State University with her emphasis being in Accounting. Charlene has worked as a Data Entry Clerk, Marketing Assistant, Assistant Accounting Manager, Payroll Administrator, Office Manager, Assistant Human Resource Manager, Assistant Controller and Human Resource Manager. In the past she has been President of the Baxter Chamber of Commerce a number of times and President of the Kiwanis Club. Currently she is President of the Foundation for Promotion of Cherokee County, Treasurer for the Baxter Springs Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Cowtown Days committee and a member of MAPS. Charlene is currently running for Cherokee County Treasurer and feels that her past education and experience will prove to be as asset for this position and will work with the citizens of Cherokee County and the other elected officials to see that the Treasurerís office is a part of the team to make sure that Cherokee County is moving in the right direction.
