Saturday will be the first-ever “We Walk Together For All Disabilities”

Three highlights

1. Take a stroll for a cause

The event — a leisurely walk downtown with activities on Sixth Street — will be a fund-raiser for Trinity Heights Respite Care. The organization is serving about 30 families right now.

Headquartered at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church at the intersection of Boyd and 12th, Trinity Heights Respite Care serves families who have children (age 0-16) with special needs.

Respite care is time for parents to rest, recharge and reconnect with friends and other family members.

2. Fun for all ages

Activites will include live music by "Outside the Walls," face painting, bounce houses and more.

3. Get her out of jail

Pastor Donna K. Voteau of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church will be put in "jail."

She will need to raise "bail" to get out of jail. Respite Care has set minimum "bail" at $500.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 8

WHERE: Sixth and Main, Newton

HOW MUCH: Entry for the event is $15 for adults and $10 for children between the ages of 5 and 10. Walkers will receive a free t-shirt.
