Keenagers Chorus and Parsons Community Orchestra present annual holiday event

RIVERTON - The Keenagers Chorus and the Parsons Community Orchestra will present their 2016 Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, in the Riverton High School Auditorium.

The Keenager Chorus, a senior citizen group that rehearses in Riverton, was organized in 1997. They have presented a Christmas and Spring concert every year since that time. The Keenagers also provide musical entertainment for various community events in Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

The Parsons Orchestra rehearses in Parsons, and includes students from Labette Community College and musicians of all ages from the surrounding community. Both groups are under the direction of Scott Nelson, of Riverton.

Choral highlights will include: "Mele Kalikimaka", the Hawaiian way of saying "Merry Christmas", and a choral meledy from Irving Berlin's "White Christmas".

Christmas memories will be stimulated by orchestral selections, then choral selections, and finally the two groups will join together to conclude a very enjoyable afternoon of Christmas music.

There is no admission charge, however, donations will be accepted.
