COLUMBUS - The Lady Titans basketball team knows how important it is to finish strong. It's evident in their gameplay every fourth quarter, and is also being shown with their late season winning streak. The girls have won three in a row at the time of press, and Tuesday night host the Baxter Springs Lady Lions in a game that could tie them with Girard for the CNC title.

The Lady Trojans of Girard will claim a share of the championship if they defeat Riverton Tuesday night, but will then need either a Columbus loss to Baxter Springs or a win over Galena to clinch the title outright.

The Lady Titans suffered a tough loss hosting Girard on Feb. 3, 49-24. Since then they've made it a mission to keep adding the W's. First edging out St. Mary's-Colgan of Pittsburg at home 35-30, followed by a pair of wins on the road: Frontenac 57-34, then Galena 38-24.

Columbus will have their work cut out for them against Baxter Springs, who sit just a game behind the Lady Titans in the CNC standings. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. and game updates will be available at sekvoice.com.

Titans

The Columbus Titans boy's basketball team has had a bit of a tough go these last few weeks. They've yet to pick up a win in February, with their last victory coming in Riverton on Jan. 31, a hard-earned 53-51 victory in double-overtime. They'll be looking for vengeance in Tuesday's night game hosting Baxter Springs, but will likely have their hands full against the Lions.
