COLUMBUS - The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, has announced that they will again be doing the Miss Columbus program for 2017. The board of directors did not want to see the program go by the wayside, as it has been a great opportunity for young women of our community to participate. They not only learn about their community, do community service, they also learn how to handle themselves and represent Columbus at many functions.
A committee has been formed and they have started work on the 2017 program. High School age girls, being 16 years of age by March 3 of this year in USD 493 district may apply. Applications have been left at the Columbus High School office, and the committee plans on meeting with the young ladies during one of the free sessions at the high school, or they can be picked up at the Chamber office. Application must be turned in by March 3 to the Chamber office. In order to do the program, there must be at least seven girls signed up. Following the due date application process, the committee will meet with both the girl and parents, to go over planned activities for the program (so parents will know what to expect and ask questions.
Scholarship funds will be one of the gifts the Miss Columbus 2018 will receive. The Miss Columbus pageant will be September 30, 2017.
Inquiries can be made through the Chamber office at this time. The committee is planning on doing a “Tasting Bee” and 2017 Cookbook. If you would be interested in working with this program, contact the Columbus Chamber of Commerce office.
