COLUMBUS - Seniors Zeppelin Speer, Erick Hamilton, Ty Perry, Hunter Stamper and Luke Laws finished their senior night on the bad side as they were mauled 80-38 by the Baxter Springs Lions. The Titans finished their regular season 3-17 (2-5 CNC) after losing last Friday to Chanute. The Lions completed their regular season 14-6 (5-2 CNC).

The Lions started 22-2 in the opening period. It took nearly two minutes for the Titans to get pass half court due to numerous turnovers and hard pressure by the Lions. The half time score was 52-17. With substituted Baxter Springs players and a running clock in the fourth quarter the Titans outscored the Lions 17-10 in the final period.

Senior Garrett Shafer led the Lions with 18 points, followed by sophomore Trey White and Preston Landis with 14 points each. Junior Max Sheffer finished with 12, and senior Nate Thompson with 10.

Seniors Speer and Perry were the Titans top scorers with 11 and 8 points respectively. Junior Austin Lagle and freshman Patrick Cassidy each added 6.

Both teams will compete in the Kansas Class 4A Division II sub-state this Thursday in Girard.
