COLUMBUS - The Cherokee County Health Department, City of Columbus and Southeast Kansas Recycling, Inc. will be conducting the 10th annual countywide E-waste (electronic waste) collection event. Previous collections have provided proper disposal for 178,310 pounds of old electronics.
County residents will have the opportunity to dispose of obsolete, broken or unwanted electronics; including audio/visual equipment, computers/monitors, televisions, microwaves, telephones and other similar items. No large household appliances or batteries (unless contained within an electronic device) will be accepted, as non-approved items will be refused.
This free collection event will be centrally located in the county from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 29. Material will be collected at the north end of the Cherokee County Fairgrounds in Columbus.
Donations to help minimize the disposal costs will be greatly appreciated.
