COLUMBUS - The Cherokee County Livestock Improvement Association will hold its 32nd Annual Expo on Saturday, May 13, at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds and Livestock Barns in Columbus.

Again this year there will be a Goat and Sheep show that will start at 9 a.m. Entry Fees will be $15 per head by May 6, and $20.00 per head late fee. The Beef show will start at 10 a.m. with the bucket calves, followed by heifers, then steers and lastly the showmanship class. Weigh in will be from 8 - 9:30 a.m. Show is 80 percent payback in all Classes. Grand Champion Heifers & Steers will be $150 and Reserve Champions $100. Bucket Calves Grand Champion and Showmanship Grand will be $25 and Reserve $15. Health papers required for all out of state cattle and registration papers required for Purebred classes. Entry fees are $15 per head by May 6. Late fee will be $20 per head. A $10 deposit fee per head for stall space anywhere on the grounds is required. Money will be refunded in cash after bedding has been picked up and area inspected by a CCLIA member. Scholarships announced

The Cherokee County Livestock Improvement Association announces two scholarships available for graduating seniors, or anyone studying in college or a technical/trade school. The Cherokee County Livestock Improvement Association Scholarship is for anyone studying for a degree in an AG related field, and the Sammy Ross Memorial Scholarship is for anyone who is a CCLIA member or one of their family members is a member.

Both Scholarships are to be used for post high school study. Applications are available from KC Youngblood Ag Instructor at Columbus High School or at the County Extension Office. Applications are due by May 12, to K.C. Youngblood at the Columbus High School or to the County Extension Office.
