BAXTER SPRINGS - If all this rain lately has given you a case of cabin-fever, then this weekend Baxter Springs has the cure. The 2017 Cowtown Spring Fling will be a jam-packed day full of fun and entertainment for the whole family, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 6. Due to the flooding at Kiwanis Park, the event has been moved to the Johnston Public Library grounds, at 210 West 10th Street.
Centerpiece of the event, the classic car show will begin at 10 a.m., with check-in between 8 and 9 a.m., in Kiwanis Park. There is a $10 entry fee per car, and the event is free to spectators. Judging will begin at 2 p.m., and prizes will be announced at 3 p.m.
The BBQ Smoke Off Competition will have smoked meats and fixings available starting at 11:30 a.m. Smokers will compete against one another and be judged for bragging rights as the best Cowtown BBQ in the area.
An arts and crafts show is set to begin first thing in the morning, and run the length of the event until 4 p.m. Several area vendors will be selling their hand-crafted items and wares, some will even be crafting on site!
There will be live music all day. For more information call Jeff McCandless 620-674-2310, Dena Ranz 913-602-4198, or visit their Facebook page @ Cowtown Spring Fling.
