PITTSBURG - Two Southeast Elementary students were among the more than 450 athletes who participated in the Special Olympics event held Thursday, April 27, on the campus of Pittsburg State University. Nine Southeast KAY chapter members were among the more than 350 volunteers.

Brian Hyers and Jeremiah Wright are in Mrs. Stephanie Withrow's class at Southeast Elementary School in Weir, through SEK Interlocal 637.

Hyers, of Galena, participated in the Tennis Ball Throw, 25 Meter Run and 50 Meter Run.

Wright, of Baxter Springs, participated in the Softball Throw, Standing Long Jump, 25 Meter Run and 50 Meter Run.

Volunteers from Southeast High School were seniors Siarra Clark, Kinsey Schwan, Ryley Slifka and Madison Westervelt; juniors Wyntr Jacobs and Caitlin Low; sophomore Julie Martin; freshmen McKenna Renn and Anna Thompson; along with chapter sponsor Mrs. Debbie Turner.
