Funds help Mercy Health Foundation pay for mammograms
JOPLIN, Mo. – Women who cannot afford a mammogram will benefit from a $5,000 donation from HOPE 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation to Mercy Health Foundation Joplin.
Mercy Health Foundation received a check from HOPE 4 You at a presentation ceremony Tuesday, May 16, at Mercy Breast Center in Mercy Hospital Joplin.
“HOPE’s unwavering support over the years has been crucial to Mercy Health Foundation’s mammogram program,” said Miranda Lewis, executive director of Mercy Health Foundation. “We couldn’t ask for a better partner in the fight against breast cancer.”
Donated funds are used through Mercy Health Foundation to provide mammograms at no cost. HOPE 4 You receives funding from individuals, organizations and fundraisers such as its annual Race 4 HOPE, which will be held June 3.
“Every year I look forward to coming to Mercy Hospital Joplin to present this check because I know it will help save so many lives,” said Sharon Clark, HOPE 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation president. “HOPE 4 You is all about early detection.”
HOPE 4 You helps provide breast cancer awareness and prevention funding in 12 counties in the four-state area. Since 2008, it has contributed nearly $50,000 to Mercy Health Foundation’s Mammogram Fund.
“HOPE 4 You has a mission to save lives through early detection and to support women who are survivors. This is the reason it has its signature RACE 4 HOPE each year in June to support these programs,” said Whit Sanders, executive director of Mercy Cancer Services in Joplin. “This donation continues to fill a need and ensures that women in the area can receive a mammogram if they can’t afford one.”
