Good Morning,

With the 4th cookout last week, it moved that fund up to around $5,000. We have one more planned firework cookout, June 8. So hopefully that will give us enough for a nice firework display on the 4th. You can still make a donation either to the Chamber firework fund or to the Community Foundation, tax free, by sending to Sonja at Commerce Bank (mark firework). Fireworks the past few years have been from $7,500 to $10,000. Thanks to everyone who has helped and who has donated.

While we are on the 4th of July, we only have three members signed up to help with that committee. We could use a couple more, they are meeting this Wednesday, May 24, noon at the Chamber office. It does not take a lot, basically to plan activities late afternoon on the 4th and to help with games and announcements. We would greatly appreciate the help.

Today is the last day of school for USD 493, so watch out for the kids. Congratulations to the graduating seniors of the Class of 2017.

Make plans to drop by Wednesday evening to the participating businesses for their block party (after hours) from 5 to 7 pm. The retail committee will be doing a drawing for $50 in Columbus gift certificates, so be sure and register. Business are ready to show off what is new, do some networking. Just come out. These are the business you do not want to miss: US Cellular, Maple UnCommon Hotel & Gallery, Verizon Parcom, Hair on the Square, Janet Graham Accounting, State Theater Event Center, KISS Tech, Team Threads, Mercy Hospital and the City of Columbus will have a booth uptown also. Other businesses not on the square are welcome to sit up a booth. Meads Kettle Korn will also be sit up. We are still looking for entertainment for the gazebo. The businesses will have snacks and/or beverages available and many are planning on doing different types of guessing games.
