Good Morning,

Thanks to all the businesses who participated in the after hours last week. There were not many who came out to check out what our businesses had to offer, we are sorry to say. Thanks also, to the Barnes Family for the entertainment under the gazebo, great job! The winner of the Columbus Gift Certificates was Amber Wheeler, stop buy the office and pick them up.

We are in need of volunteers for the run on July 4. Need two people to help with registration and need 10 people to be placed at turns along the route with a flag to make sure runners do not lose their way, I think we had some get lost last year. If you can help with this, contact Denise at Farm Bureau Insurance. The run will take place on the fourth at 7 a.m. Registration is open for the 5K and children's run.

The 4th of July committee has meet and they plan on having activities begin in the park at 5 p.m. The city will sponsor a free swim beginning at 1 p.m. The committee is looking for sponsors for the Tug of War, Frog Hopping contest, Turtle Races, Egg Toss and Hot Dog Eating contest. Basically all you need is to sponsor some type of prize for 1st and 2nd winners, you can help with that event, if you like. Thanks to Commerce Bank, Empire District-Liberty Utilities, Jay Hatfield Chevrolet and Labette Bank for taking on the Washer Tournament, Obstacle Course Bottle Fill Races and Water Balloon Toss. Fireworks will follow around 9:45 p.m., in case of rain, fireworks will be on July 5 and no games.

We Welcome our newest member - Jay's Towing and Recovery LLC, owned and operated by Jay Saiz. They provide towing service. You can reach jay at 429-2746 or his cell 417-456-0665.
