Thanks to all of our members who supported the 4-H/FFA kids at their livestock auction during fair week. The agriculture committee/Lions Club purchased a hog from Michael Shepard. His Thank You note read: "Thank you for supporting me and my 4-H pig project. It's a lot of help for next years pig project."
The agriculture committee will meet today at noon, to work on their fall Ag EXPO, to be help on Sept. 28. Two companies have booked space so fare, and several workshops have been lined up. If your business works with our farmers/ranchers we would encourage you to participate as a vendor space. Space is 10 x 10 or larger for $30 and will include two tickets for lunch and dinner.
Columbus Day committee met last week and things are moving along. T-shirts have been ordered and should have by the middle of the month. Thanks to Larry at Columbus News Report for running our pilot newsletter in color and those will be sent out to all pilots, sponsors, crew and host families shortly.
Tickets for the Members Only concert are available. Concert will be held at State Theater Event Center on Saturday evening of the festival. Tickets are $10 or a VIP ticket is $20 and includes a table. They can be purchased at Jay Hatfield Chevrolet, Mike Carpino Ford and the Chamber office. Limited number, so don't wait until the last minute, will be $15 at the door.
Food vendor space is all taken. If you need CDF flyers, we have them in the office, will try to get more out this week to locals. The committee is accepting nominations for the Chris Award, just send a letter as to why you are nominating and what they have done in community service. They are also taking applications for the Little Mr. & Miss Columbus contest. This is based strictly ticket sales or donations. Children must be between three and five years old, and in order to do it, we must have at least two children in each division. All proceeds go toward entertainment, the committee has already committed to $2,900 in entertainment for that day. If your business would like to place anything in the pilot gift packs, we are getting ready to put those together. At present, we have 13 participating - coupons, marketing hand outs, etc. Just drop them off at the Chamber office.
All school reunion, several classes have picked up and mailed out the information on the all school reunion/city celebration and we are receiving reservations.
