BAXTER SPRINGS - The "Build a Better World" program came to a close last Thursday. The Johnston Public Library's summer program gave local kids a plethora of fun and engaging activities to keep their developing minds learning during school's off-season, including: Guest speakers, musical performers, puppet shows, story tellers, and much more.

"Build a Better World" culminated in a special program on July 27, with refreshments, awards, and splash time. The Baxter Springs Fire Department aided by setting up a way for the kids to beat the heat, providing a fun time for everyone.

A special night swim has been scheduled for Aug. 19, giving residents one last chance to "make a splash" for their library. The library's elevator is currently in dire need of repair. All funds raised from the night swim, held from 7 to 9 p.m., will go towards fixing the elevator.
