Public encouraged to support and honor law enforcement, emergency medical services and firefighters by giving blood this month
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) is very proud of the vital service that our donors provide for area hospital patients each day. We’re also proud of the area’s first responders; those that make our lives safer by putting their lives on the line each day. CBCO has set aside the month of August to honor their efforts and give blood donors the opportunity to do the same by giving a lifesaving blood donation.
“We consider our area first responders to be heroes,” CBCO Media Relations Representative Chris Pilgrim said. “The goal here is to honor their service by getting our own heroes, blood donors, to give their gift in their honor.”
Many times, the lives of first responders and blood donors intersect. Such was the case when Springfield, Missouri, police officer Aaron Pearson was injured in a shooting while on duty in 2015. Officer Pearson required twenty units of blood as he was treated for his injuries. You can read Aaron’s story here: http://www.cbco.org/police-officer-20-units/
CBCO Donor Centers are located in Springfield and Joplin, Missouri; Bentonville and Springdale, Arkansas. To make an appointment to give: http://www.cbco.org/donate-blood/
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide blood to patients at 40 area hospitals. Please give this month, and thanks for giving life to your community.
