BAXTER SPRINGS - Quaker Hill is bringing back one of last summers' favorite events for a another go-round. The 2nd Annual 'Movie in the Park' event will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Kiwanis Park in Baxter Springs.
This year's feature film is the award-winning 2016 3D computer-animated Disney musical: Moana. The film tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with a goddess. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of saving her people. The film was well-received by critics and fans alike. It won multiple awards, including Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. 'Moana' was the 56th animated film produced by Disney.
While the movie might be the main event, Quaker Hill is again providing a full evening of fun and activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live music, hot dogs, and more. The community-oriented event is quickly becoming a favorite local tradition, as a one last hurrah before summer vacation ends.
