Columbus Life Christian School will open its 31st year Thursday, Aug. 24, with an orientation program for all students and any parents who wish to attend. The orientation will cover curriculum, Philosophy of education, general policies, and standards of conduct, as well as extracurricular activities.

The school utilizes the individualized Accelerated Christian Education curriculum. New students who have been in public schools or other private schools are given a diagnostic test to determine their learning levels in Math, English, Spelling and Reading. After correcting any learning "gaps" which may exist, the students are placed at their diagnosed levels and proceed academically at rates which are commensurate with their individual abilities.

The LCS Bears volleyball squad, runnerup last year in the Mid-America Christian Conference, will open their season August 25 -26 in the MACC Pre Season Tournament of Joplin.

Life Christian also competes in the Midstates Christian League with four other Christian Schools and two Home-School groups. The schools compete in eight different sports during the year as well as a Music and Arts Meet in January and an Academic Competition, usually in February.

Life Christian School opened its doors in August of 1987 in the old Murdock Funeral Home on South Kansas Street and moved to its present location at 1001 East Merle Evans Drive (just east of McDonalds) in September of 1995.
