The Ag EXPO will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, at the 4-H building. Vendor space is still available for both inside and out. At the moment, we have some very good businesses planning on attending from Carthage, Joplin, Bartlett and Columbus. If your businesses promotes to the agriculture community, you might want to consider setting up a booth. If interested contact the Chamber office. Workshops are in place throughout the day. We encourage you all to come out and see what is new in agriculture.
Remember, we have a new program that our retail committee is doing - there is a large following on our Facebook page so they are encouraging our members to provide information on their business and they will feature a Chamber business each week - send information and pictures to Jamie at Mike Carpino Ford.
We welcome our newest member, Columbus Saddle Club. The organization has several new events planned for 2018 for their arena. We will keep you posted on their activities.
The Columbus Day committee is in need of an organization to do the car park during the Hot Air Balloon Regatta. They pay the group 10 percent of what is taken in during the car park. Proceeds from the car park helps pay for the liability insurance for the Regatta. If you have a group interested in doing have them contact the Chamber office.
We have two girls and two boys participating in the Little Mr & Miss Columbus contest. The kids are selling tickets for a $100 Columbus gift certificate and two $50 Columbus gift certificates to be give during the Columbus Day Festival. Proceeds from this is used toward entertainment.
The Miss Columbus pageant is Sept. 30 at CUHS auditorium. Fawna and Gracie are doing a great job in working with the girls and taking on this event.
On Monday, Oct. 2, the Columbus Community Foundation and USD 493 are challenging the entire community to participate in the third annual Day of Service. This is a day set aside to give back to the community in which we live and work. Community service, clean-up, painting and a variety of other projects will take place on this day. USD 493 Columbus student body, staff and several businesses and organizations will participate in community clean-up as we prepare to celebrate Columbus Days on Oct. 6-8. We hope to engage the entire Columbus community in this day of service!

Thursday, Sept. 14 Dinner in the courtyard at State Theatre, 6 p.m. Reservation need to be made in advance by calling Janelle. $15 per person.
Saturday, Sept. 16 Relay for Life, city park from noon to midnight.
The city advised that their new electronic sign (in front of the community building) should be going up this week, so we will not be posting activities.
