The CDF committee is in need of five or six people to do the car park for the balloon festival. The liability insurance for the balloon regatta is $1,200+ and the parking fee covers that fee and we have to have the insurance. We will give whoever helps 10 percent of the take in. It is about three hours on Friday evening, two hours on Saturday morning, two or so hours on Saturday evening and two hours on Sunday morning, and sometimes we have not done Sunday morning as the crowd is usually not that big and most have purchased a car pass so no collection is needed. If you can help, please let the office know. We are asked so many times, "Why do we need to pay for such and such, it doesn't cost anything to put this on", well, I wish we could say that it didn't cost anything, but it runs over $20,000 for the two events.

Today is the last day to make reservations with Janelle, if you want to have dinner in the courtyard on Thursday evening, make it a date night and enjoy.

The golf tournament has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Columbus Country Club. Register your team with Jamie at Mike Carpino Ford. If you will remember back, we had to postpone the golf tournament back in the spring because of the high water. Come out and have a fun day.

The Halloween Walk will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31. It will again be a "Trunk or Treat'. Those participating will just drive into Pine St., open up the trunk of your vehicle, and hand out the treats. The committee will give Columbus gift certificates for the best Halloween decorated vehicle. Let the office know if you wish to participate.

The Leadership Columbus, junior class, will have their first session on Sept. 26, on tourism. Every other month for four sessions they will meet and learn what their community has to offer - sessions will be on tourism, government, economic development and health services. This give the kids a chance to see how things work and get done, plus, a chance to see and ask questions that a lot of people never get to see.

Ag EXPO is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 28, on the fairgrounds. There is still some vendor space available. If you sell to the agriculture industry, farmers/ranchers, you probably want to consider having space. Call the office to reserve.

Advance tickets for general admission to the Members Only concert are beginning to sell, so don't wait to buy at the door, there may not be any left. I am getting a lot of out of town calls. Tickets may be purchased at the Chamber office, Jay Hatfield Chevrolet and Mike Carpino Ford.
