Mercy Health Foundation events include Pink Fridays, T-shirt sales

JOPLIN, Mo. – Mercy Health Foundation Joplin is kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month in style with its ever-popular breast cancer awareness T-shirts and Pink Fridays.

Shirts went on sale for $20 each on Friday, Oct. 6, and are available at Mercy Gift Shop (main hospital entrance, second floor) and Sisters Health Boutique (cancer center entrance) at Mercy Hospital Joplin, 100 Mercy Way. T-shirts can be purchased during business hours at both locations.

All proceeds will go to Mercy Health Foundation’s Breast Center and Mammogram funds to provide free and low-cost mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women, as well as funds for Mercy Breast Center equipment, patient education and programs.

T-shirt sales and pink refreshments are part of Pink Fridays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday in October, at Mercy Hospital Joplin’s second floor gallery near the gift shop.

Other Pink Friday activities in the gallery will include pink hair extensions and nail art by Salon 529 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, and Friday, Oct. 13. Extensions are $10 each and nail art $5.

The Mercy Mobile Mammography Van, based at Mercy Hospital Columbus, will be at various locations in October, including three from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Friday, Oct. 6, at Jay Hatfield Ford, 1517 High St., Sarcoxie, Missouri; Friday, Oct. 13, at Jay Hatfield Chevrolet Buick, 200 S. East Ave., Columbus, Kansas; and Jay Hatfield Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 1029 N. Highway 69, Frontenac, Kansas. The van also will be at the Columbus High School football game Oct. 13.

A $100,000 gift over five years from Jay Hatfield Companies helped fund a digital upgrade of the van that serves southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri and northeast Oklahoma. The substantial donation to Mercy Health Foundation Joplin is part of nearly $250,000 put toward the project through various donors.
