BAXTER SPRINGS - With as spotless league record the 8th grade Baxter Springs Middle School volleyball team finished in first place in the CCCJL league after sweeping Southeast last week. The girls went undefeated in the league and ended the season with an overall record of 8-2.

Baxter's 8th grade A team defeated Southeast 25-12, 25-22. Brooklyn Giesel led the team in scoring with 13 points. She finished with seven aces, two kills, three assists, and three passes to target. Abigail Burggraf also had a stellar game with five points, four aces, two kills, one assist, and five passes to target. Cassidy Pena was the second highest scorer for the Lions in the game, with six points; she also had three aces and hit four passes to target.

Other Baxter BMS stats for the games: Payton Landis with four points, one ace, one assist, two passes to target; Emmalee Williams with four points and one ace; Emma George with one point and two passes to target; Addie Kipp with one pass to target and one kill.

The 7th graders also swept Southeast, 25-8, 25-12. They ended the season with an overall record of 10-2. They were 5-2 in the CCCJL league, and could possibly win second place.
