COLUMBUS - A hearing for the CDBG closeout of the Galena Bridge Project was held during Monday morning's Board of County Commissioners meeting. Carey Spoon from the Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission addressed the board with a recap and final paperwork to sign off on.

"It did come in under budget by almost $28,000," Spoon said.

Spoon reported the total CDBG funds were $165,983.37.

"I'm really pleased with the construction company," Chairman Pat Collins said. "We didn't know those people and had never worked with them before, but they did a real fine job and were a real delight to work with."

Chairman Collins added that he was overwhelmed with the finished product.

"They really did a fantastic job," Commissioner Cory Moates said.

After signing the paperwork, Chairman Collins thanked Spoon for all her work along the duration of the project.

"We stared this eight years ago and we couldn't have done it without you," he said. "We can't thank you enough."
