COLUMBUS - Time to finish up that leftover turkey and embrace the holiday season! If you're feeling a little "grinchy", then the Columbus Chamber of Commerce has a special evening of Christmas cheer planned to get you in the spirit.
The annual Christmas Celebration takes place this Wednesday evening, Nov. 29, in downtown Columbus. A slew of activities are planned for the square, all culminating in the Christmas Parade down Maple.
Pictures with Santa kicks the evening off at 5 p.m., at Labette Bank.
Beginning at around 5 p.m., vendors will be set up on the courthouse lawn. Farmers Co-op will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs on the west side of the square. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m., with all proceeds will going towards the 2018 4th of July firework fund.
Natalie's Studio of Dance will perform in front of the courthouse at 6 p.m., followed by Highland School students singing carols.
The Lions Club will do the tree lighting at 6:55 p.m., with the Parade starting at 7 p.m. Floats will be judged on site prior to the start. Prizes will be given in categories of religious and novelty.
