ORONOGO, Mo. - A Galena man caught near Oronogo, Missouri, during burglary in stolen car with several items of stolen property on Dec. 9.
According to a press release from Oronogo Chief of Police Christopher M. Carriger, officers with the Oronogo Police Department, with assistance from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, responded to an address in the Greystone Subdivision for a resident that came home to find someone burglarizing her home.
Officers were notified of a potential suspect and suspect vehicle that was found leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and 21-year-old Jace Michael Burris of Galena, was arrested on numerous outstanding warrants out of Joplin for Larceny, Drug Crimes, Assaulting an Officer, and Driving While Suspended or Revoked.
The vehicle Burris was driving was found to have been stolen out of Newton County. A Missouri license plate on the vehicle was determined to have been stolen out of the city of Joplin. Laptop computers, a Missouri driver’s license, items taken from the home in Oronogo and others items were determined to be stolen out of Joplin and Galena.
Burris was also found to be in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine. The investigation is continuing and more victims are expected to be located as the investigation progresses. Burris is in custody at the Jasper County Detention Center on the active warrants and charges have been submitted for Burglary in the First Degree, Stealing, Tampering in the First Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
