The calendar of events brochure is just about ready to go to the printer. There are still some organizations who have not advised of their 2018 events that they would like the public to be aware of. Also, if you want your business listed and marked on the map, I need to know. This is a retail committee project and it has been successful for several years. The brochure gets in the hand of our many visitors, so they know where to find accommodations, eat, shop and visit sites. It is stocked in all Kansas Vic's and also in Missouri and Oklahoma, plus mailed out to all inquiries. The fee of $40 for your list covers the cost of printing. Let the office know if you want your listing.

Tables are available for adoption for the annual dinner on Jan. 31, 2018, at the State Theatre Event Center. No fee, this is a time to remind those in attendance of your business. We ask that you leave 10 table favors for those at the table. Theme for this year is "Through the Decades" in celebration of the city's 150th anniversary - so you have a wide range in your decorating, and of course, you want to work your name in it. Table favors do not have to be anything expensive, most do their company give aways. Let the office know if you would like to adopt-a-table, several have already been spoken for.

This week:

Wednesday, December 13 Board meeting, noon at Maple UnCommon Guest House. Members are encouraged to attend and give input. If you don't know your board members, this is also a good way to meet them. If you plan on attending, we ask that you advise, in order to have enough lunch on hand.

The committee for the 150th City Celebration is in need of volunteers to help out with a planned Meet & Greet past residents who help make Columbus and for a cemetery tour. The committee would like to let the public learn about many of our former residents, who became well know in different fields. They would be dressed in appeal of their day, tell about themselves and what they did for the community. The committee would like to do a "Meet & Greet" during the all school reunion in June and also do a cemetery tour with some during Memorial Day week day. If you would like to help out, let the office know. The The Genealogical Historical Society & Library are helping on this project will be doing research on those being portrayed.

Have a good week,

Jean
