BAXTER SPRINGS - If the recent weather has you pining for flowering fields instead of frozen tundras, take solace in the fact that Cowtown Spring Fling is just a few months away.

Event coordinator Jeff McCandless is excited to bring the event back to Baxter Springs, and he received the support of the city at last week's city council meeting. The council granted permission for the event, which like last year, will be held at the Johnston Public Library. Cowtown Spring Fling will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

McCandless said he hopes to see the event continue to grow and benefit the community. The event brought crowds of folks from outside the community into Baxter Springs for the day, and he expects this trend to continue.

In keeping the spirit of Cowtown Days alive, Spring Fling will have a car show, crafts and vendors, and live music throughout the day. To keep updated, follow Cowtown Spring Fling on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter @CTspringfling.
