BAXTER SPRINGS - Baxter Springs Post 206 honored the 2017 Policeman of the Year during their January meeting. This year's recipient is Sgt. Darryl Nadeau, of the Baxter Springs Police Department. Those present with him were his wife, LaDonna, Chief of Police Bill Adams, Sgt. Raymond Vazquez, and Councilman Rick Christenson. Wayne Cook, Legion member, presented Sgt. Nadeau with the award and said he has known him for a long time and besides being a great policeman, he is a really nice young man.

Sgt. Nadeau was a real hero several months ago as he saved Officer Hamilton and Officer Butler from a burning trailer, and put the fire out, saving other tailers next to it.

Sgt. Nadeau has been in law enforecement for 19 years. He's been on special response teams, D.U.I. enforcement, been to S.W.A.T. school and trained in hostage and rescue negotiations, as well as drug task force.

American Legion Post 206 is proud to have this young man as Policeman of the Year.
