I was sitting on a park bench once talking about how much I loved dogs when a good fellow spoke up and said if your dog don't like your neighbor you better not like him either. Listen to your dog the kind gent exclaimed!

As stated I'm a dog lover and the adage a dog is man's best friend is often quoted down south where I was reared.

Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus said unto him,Thou shalt Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment and the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

I believe Love thy neighbor as thyself is a version of the Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them them do unto you is first found in the old testament. Jesus tells the parable of the Good Samaritan to illustrate this commandment.

I have often said our love for Him will never be greater than our love for them. God has connected the depth of our relationship with him to those in need around us.

When my children were growing up i was a jokester Dad with them as most father's are. There were plenty of serious times also, laughter is important in child rearing.

At bedtime I would often Joke i love you more than I love myself and that's alot and they would laugh alot.

Do we Love our neighbors as ourselves? Well chew on this devotion a bit and think about it. Loving God with all our mind is alot of Love. God loves all and God gave all.
