Good Morning,

Thanks to everyone who helped and attended the annual dinner last week. We have had so many tell us they enjoyed it. Thanks to State Theatre Event Center, we know many were in the center for the first time and they were impressed with the facility. Remember, to let people know it is now open and taking bookings.

The Miss Columbus committee has met with several young ladies to encourage them to participate in the Miss Columbus program. This Friday, Feb. 9, is the deadline to turn in applications to CUES office or Chamber office. If there is not seven girls or more there will not be a Miss Columbus pageant or we will know by next week, if the committee can move forward.

Columbus Day committee had met and started plans for the 2018 festival. Vendor applications, invite to pilots will go out in the next couple of days - have had several vendor calls to inquire. As usual, sponsors will be needed to help fund activities. If you would like to be a sponsor, give the office a call. Fees will be same as last year - hot air balloon, $500, car show, $400, children's festival $200, your name will appear in the color brochure, on our web site and in all press release. Have booked a street entertainment, looking into chalk paint artist, band for a concert.

The retail committee will be host a cyber security/counterfeit bill workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 21, noon at the community building. A light lunch will be served. No fee for members, non-members will be $10. RSVP to the Chamber office by Feb. 16. The committee is going to try to have business workshops one a quarter on different subjects for our members.

Wednesday, Feb. 7 several will be traveling to Topeka for a presentation on the Senate floor for a declaration to Columbus on their 150th Celebration. There will be no all school reunion/city celebration committee meeting that day. Presentation will be at 2:30 p.m. You are Welcome to attend.

This week:

Thursday, February 8 Leadership Columbus Junior class session on Economic Development. The class will be taught by Janet Miller, director of the Cherokee County Economic Development at her office on E. Pine from noon to 3 p.m.

Friday, February 9 Miss Columbus applications due.

Tuesday, February 13 Executive meeting, noon

Wednesday, February 14 Board meeting, noon at community building. Members are Welcome to attend and give input, we do ask that you advise in order to have enough lunch on hand.

Thursday, February 15 Easter Egg Hunt committee will meet at noon.

Monday, February 16 RSVP for cyber security workshop

Wednesday, February 21 Security workshop, noon at community building

Thursday, February 22 Columbus Day committee meets, noon
