BAXTER SPRINGS - A long-sought safety measure at Baxter Springs High School is finally on the horizon. USD 508 Superintendent David Pendergraft confirmed that contracts for a traffic signal on the highway in front of the school have been signed.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved to donate $50,000 towards the traffic signal. Commission Chairman Cory Moates attended the USD 508 Board of Education meeting on Feb. 12, to inform the BOE of the commissioner's approval of the donation.
