Good Morning,

The Lions Club will be presenting a $750 check to the 4th of July fund this evening at their meeting. Mike Evans, chairman of the committee will be accepting. If you wish to donate to help with fireworks this year, you may send your donation to the Chamber office or for tax donation to the Columbus Community Foundation. Many want the display to be class B this year (those are the one that go high above the trees - they also cost $10,000 or more for the 15 to 20 minute show. We have been doing $7,500 the last few years and have been lucky to reach that. Thanks Lions Club, also thanks to the city for their donation.

The first "Fire-Up for Fireworks" cookout will be Thursday, March 15, and they will continue the second Thursday of each month through June.

Blood drive will be this afternoon in the community building from 1 to 5:30 p.m., I believe.

Wednesday, February 28 the Cherokee County Economic Development will be hosting their Youth Entrepreneur Fair at the Baxter Springs High School.

Wednesday, March 7 All School Reunion/City Celebration committee will meet, noon at the Chamber office

Thursday, March 8 Lions Club Bean Feed, Community building, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Get your tickets from any Lions member or at the door.

Last day for Trish Carroll at Columbus Telephone Company will be this Wednesday. We wish her the best in her retirement. Taking her place will be Todd VanEpps. If you have not met Todd yet, drop by and introduce yourself - he has tried to visit several businesses in the community, but it takes awhile.

The Easter Egg Hunt committee could still use a couple of sponsors for bikes, will probably be around $75 per sponsor. We thank Apple Market, Mid West Color Graphics, Parks & Recreation, Sonic Drive In and the Donut Shop for sponsoring different parts of the hunt. Candy, eggs and some gifts have been ordered. Miss Columbus girls will help put stuff out on March 31 for the hunt.

A nice attendance at the cyber security workshop last week. Thanks you Sheriff Groves for the presentation. Once point that several in attendance mentioned was - they were not aware that every time you make a copy on your copier, that is stored on the hard drive of the copier. So, when you get rid of that copier be sure and take out that hard drive before it gets into hands that it should not be.

Have a good week,

Jean
