AFTON, Okla. - The Baxter Springs Middle School competed in their first powerlifting meet on Feb. 15, in Afton, Oklahoma. Nine 8th graders and fourteen 7th graders competed.

"They represented Baxter well," said Coach Rector. "They have been training for this the past six weeks and I am very proud of how we did. Last year BMS started powerlifting after basketball season. It was just an intersquad meet. Parents and kids enjoyed it so much that we decided to find a meet and go to it."

BMS Principal Jason Walker said, "I think it was a great opportunity for our kids to experience. It was exciting to see them working together and cheering each other on with encouragement.”
