GALENA - Honoring the tradition of the do-it-yourself, start-from-scratch attitude of its namesake highway, local vendors gathered at the Elks Lodge in Galena last Saturday for the Route 66 Extravaganza. Everything from home-made clothing to unique decor, home made soaps, candles, and much more was on display.

Despite the persistent downpour outside, merchants of all sorts gathered and filled the lower hall with their various wares. The vendors represent the often overlooked side of the community's industry landscape, the home-based businesses.
