BAXTER SPRINGS - Three Lady Lions earned season honors, as selected by the CNC League coaches for the 2017-18 season.
Sophomore 6’ 0” Delaney Barnes was chosen as an unanimous first team selection. Delaney averaged 19.1 points per game. She made 136 two-pointers and 16 from three point range. At the free throw line she connected on 120 of 179 attempts. Her total points for the season was 440.
Delaney pulled 78 offensive rebounds, and 159 defensive boards for a total of 237, a 10.3 per game average. A double-double for the season. She also had 25 assists, 37 steals, and 32 blocked shots.
Junior 5-8” Abbey Underhill was chosen on the second team of the CNC. Abbey was voted the Lady Lions Most Valuable Player, as chosen by her teammates. Abbey scored 203 from the field, and made 29 free throws for a total of 221 season points, for a 10.15 average per game. She also collected 38 rebounds on offense, and 39 on defense for a total of 77, for a 3.5 average. Abbey led the Lady Lions in assists with 53, 2.4 average per game, 36 steals, and three blocked shots.
Junior 5’ 9” Kassity Shafer received Honorable Mention from the CNC. Kassity scored 86 points from the field, and made 17 free throw for a total of 103 season points. Her primary strength was rebounding. Kassity pulled 51 offensive rebounds, and 91 defensive rebounds. With the 142 total she average 6.1 per game. She was second for the Lady Lions in assists with 47, and had 17 blocked shots.
