The tourism ad has come out in the AAA magazine and we had already received 50 inquiries. So brochures have been mailed out. It is always interesting to see where they come from - this batch there were a lot from West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kansas, Ohio, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, and South Dakota. People are seeing our ad. We will receive these label inquiries from AAA about every two weeks for a couple of months.
The Columbus Day committee is in need of someone to do the Car Show for the festival. If no one steps forward, there will not be a car show. We have booked some unique entertainment and street performers for this year. Vendor space is being booked. If you want a food space, don't wait as most of those are already gone, we just have a few left.
The 4th of July fund is now around $3,200. The next firework cookout will be April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Farmers Co-op being the grill master. These cookouts are the only fundraiser for the year to raise funds for fireworks, and everyone wanted Class B this year and that will be $10,000 for fireworks, so there is a long ways to go. Thanks to everyone for their donations. Farm Bureau Insurance will again be doing their 4th of July 5K Run, but those proceeds go into the following year.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be 10 a.m. this Saturday, March 31. The Miss Columbus girls will be helping with that event. Sponsors are: Apple Market, Crossland Construction Co., Davis Real Estate, First United Methodist Church, City of Columbus, Sonic Drive In, The Donuts Shop, Mid West Color Graphics and Parks & Recreation. Eggs have been filled and candy ready to distribute in the park. If it is raining or the park is too wet on Saturday, it will be held in the livestock barns. I guess that call will be made on Saturday morning, but according to the weather man we are suppose to have rain all week.
