CHEROKEE - Time to break out the tackle box and help a good cause at the same time. The Southeast High School Booster Club will be hosting their second annual Perch Derby this Saturday, April 21. Teams must enter the derby to gain entry in Calcutta.
Entry to the Perch Derby is $40 per two-person team. The heaviest weight of 10 or less fish will determine the winner. Cash for first, second, and third place. Weigh-in is from 4 to 5 p.m., with absolutely no weigh-ins allowed after 5 p.m.
Only panfish will be counted, no bass or catfish. Rod and reel fishing only. Tournament directors or sponsors may not be held responsible for actions or participants including but not limited to: Any infraction of the law, any fish and game violations, sore losing, or overall poor judgement.
Signups are from 8 to 10 a.m. Along with weigh-ins, they will take place at the Southeast High School next to the football stadium. Hotdogs and brats will be available for purchase during the weigh-ins. Prizes will be distributed after 5 p.m., once all entries have been entered.
