RIVERTON - Last Thursday Riverton stayed home to play Galena. The Lady Rams won the close games 8-7 and 18-17.

The Lady Bulldogs started the first game with two runs in the opening stanza. They added two more in the third inning to lead 4-0. Riverton only batted 10 players in the first three innings being shut down by pitcher Madyson Cox.

With two outs in the fourth, Jamee Compton and Kenzie Lee singled. J. Compton scored when Kenzie Houser reached on an error. Lee and Houser scored on Madison Stroup’s base hit.

Galena reached on an error, and the runner was sacrificed to second. On a 5-3 put out the runner scored on an overthrow at third. Cox helped her own cause with a solo home run.

The Lady Rams went up 6-4 in the fifth. Again, with two outs, Camryn Compton singled and J. Compton walked. The Comptons moved up one base when Lee got on with a fielder’s choice when Galena was unsuccessful on a play at third on C. Compton. Houser knocked all three in with a double.

The Lady Bulldogs retook the lead 7-6 in the sixth with three runs. The first Lady Bulldogs reached on base on balls, and all three eventually scored. In the bottom half of the sixth. Riverton’s Aspyn Girard and Mia Moss were stranded after their base hits and needing some runs. Galena went 1-2-3 in top of the seventh.

C. Compton tied the game at seven with a solo home run. Lee rapped a double, and broke the tie crossing the plate on Houser’s double.

Galena and Riverton had a wild second game with the wind swirling and blowing out. The Lady Rams started the game with four runs on just one base hit, and two Riverton errors. Riverton came back with four runs of their own in their half of the first which included a three-RBI home run by J. Compton. Houser singled and was knocked in on a base hit by Zoey Mitchell.

Galena added three runs in the second, and Riverton added 6 in the inning to lead 10-7. Galena went to eight runs with a home run in the third. In the fourth Galena stranded two, and Riverton left the bases loaded. The Lady Bulldogs plated five in the fifth to take a 13-10 lead.

Galena went to 14 in the sixth, as did Riverton. Neither team scored in the seventh inning, and the game extended one more inning. Galena took a three run advantage in the extra eighth to lead 17-15. The inning ended after a double that was put out trying to stretch to a triple.

Down by three, the Lady Rams starte their eighth with three consecutive singles by Strup, C. Compton, and J. Compton. Strup scored putting Riverton down by two at 16 on Houser’s double. Girard won the game knocking in J. Compton and Houser with a centerfield base hit.

In the game Galena had 12 hits, and Riverton 20. The Lady Rams were lead by the Comptons at the plate. Camryn went 4-for-5, and Jamee was 4-4. Strup, Lee, Houser, and Mitchell each added two hits apiece.
