William “Bill” Denver Green, 85, of Baxter Springs, Kan. passed from this life on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo.

Bill was born on October 13, 1932 in Welch, Okla. to the union of Aubrey Denver and Nora (Spunaugle) Green. After high school Bill enlisted In the United States Army serving from 1953-1954. Upon returning he was united in marriage to Mary Darlene (Delmont) Green on July 11, 1961 in Baxter Springs, Kan.

After Bill served his country he started work with his father in the Green’s Plumbing business for several years, before starting his career at Empire District Electric Company. Bill worked for Empire for 23 years, retiring in 1993. Bill was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union #664. Bill enjoyed tinkering in his garage and always had something to work on. He loved being outdoors, especially riding his Harley’s. When watching television, Bill enjoyed old westerns and Nascar racing.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Green; brother, Steve Green; sister, Daurice Hanrattie.

Bill is survived by two sons, Richard Dean Green and wife Anna of Columbus, Kan., and Shawn Green and wife Christi of Baxter Springs, Kan.; sister, Brenda Green and husband James Leach of Baxter Springs, Kan.; eight grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pence Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Baxter Springs American Legion in memory of Bill.
