BAXTER SPRINGS - At the Baxter Springs Invitational meet held on May 1, freshman Kerri Jones of Columbus received three gold medals, and one silver. Jones won the 110M Hurdles in 16.58, the 100M Dash in 13.50, and the 200M Dash in 28.00. Her second place finish was in the 300M Indeterminate Hurdles as she ran 53.24. Dixee Lacen of the Lady Titans won the 3200M Run with a 14:35.28.

Colgan won the girls division with 127 points. Columbus came in second with 84, Galena was third with 54, Baxter Springs came in seventh with 38, and Riverton was tenth with 26.

Colgan boosted their points by finishing first in the 4X100M, 4X800M, and the 4X400M Relays. Other top winners from Colgan were Aubri Piccini in the Long Jump with 14’00”, and Cathey Farmer in the 800M Run with a time of 2:40.18. The Lady Panthers won the 4X800M Relay in 11:36.59, and the 4X400M Relay with a time of 4:34.86, and the 4X100M Relay in 53.59.

Other winners were Abigal Kerr of Baxter Springs throwing Shot Put 33’5”, Ashlynn Aiken of Erie leaping 33’5” in the Triple Jump, Sailor Jackson of Cherokee-Southeast in the Pole Vault jumping 8’0”,and the Javelin throwing 119’1”, Jessee Jenkins of Southeast running the 1600M in 6:04.06, Ryleigh Willard of Galena going 4’8” in High Jump, and Madi Price of Riverton running 62.24 in the 400M.

In the boys division Colgan also took the championship with 115 points. Baxter Springs was a close second with 90. With 55 points neighbors Galena and Riverton tied for fourth. Columbus was sixth with 53.

Accountable for their 115 points Colgan placed first in five events, Sam Green threw the Shot Put 44’7”, and the Discus 121’8”. Kash Marietta ran 16.12 in the 110M Hurdles, Max Wilson ran 11.61 in the 100M Dash, and Doug Brown ran 2:09.82 in the 800M Run.

The Lions won three events with Garrett Gantt winning the 1600M Run in 4:50, and the longer 3200M Run I 10:36.37. Gantt placed second in the 800M Run in a time of 2:09. Collin Bivins ran 25.18 to win the 200M Dash. The Rams also won three events. Jumper Jeremiah Wald went 41’9 ½” in the Triple Jump, and 21’ 2 ½” in the Long Jump. Wald also placed second in the 100M Dash running 12.11. Tyler Hallam threw the Javelin 167’0”. Jake Menghini of Frontenac won the High Jump going 6’0”, and Jeret Brumback of Southeast ran 42.44 in the 300M Intermediate Hurdles. Galena won the 4X800M Relay in 9:38.40, and Columbus won the 4X400M Relay in 3:45.87.
