COLUMBUS - The Veteran's Memorial now proudly stands on the northeast corner of the Cherokee County Courthouse in Columbus, honoring the local heroes from all branches of the military.
Last November work began at the site of a new monument to honor local veterans, on the northeast corner of the Cherokee County Courthouse lawn. Following over a year of tireless effort by of the Columbus Community Foundation, their plan to erect a memorial worthy of the honor local veterans deserve is finally coming to full fruition.
The first batch of pavers honoring local veterans were set last week. The full monument is now on full display. The new memorial has taken the place of the "Military Wall of Honor" that was located on the northeast corner of the square for several years.
The new Veteran's Memorial recognizes and honors all branches of the military. For more information on ordering one of the The 9" x 6" pavers to honor a local veteran or to make a donation contact the Columbus Community Foundation.
