Thanks to everyone who came and supported the "Fire Up for Fireworks" Cookout last week. We have now reached the $7,250 mark, so the $10,000 for fireworks is looking much better, the last cookout will be on June 14, fireworks must be paid by June 22 to Riverside Fireworks. Games will begin at 5 p.m. on the 4th at the City Park and on Country Road. Flyers will be ready soon for posting.

The committee meeting for the All School/City Celebration that was to be held on this Wednesday, May 16, for proofing the Sesquicentennial book has been cancelled and rescheduled for noon on May 23. Plans are falling into place for the June 22 - 24 weekend of activities. Registration for the all school reunion is well over 200 alumni. Membership in the 150 Club for the City Celebration has reached 40, so there is still time to join that and get many special perks, including dinner, polo shirts, special coins commemorating the event. Drop by the Chamber office to join.

Since the weather has finally turned to warmer weather, it looks like it might be save to plant your downtown planters, some have been planted and they look great. Apple Market, Big D's Emporium, and Columbus True Value all have some beautiful bedding plants available. Thanks for taking care of the planters, it makes are downtown area look nice and there will be lots of out of town guests in Columbus in June and we certainly want Columbus to look nice.

Columbus Day Festival is coming along. If you want something listed in the CDF brochure we must have it in the office by May 29, as it is going to the printer on the 30 - why so early you ask. We want the brochure back by the all school reunion, so those in attendance can see what the community does, plus they need to be in the mail to all VIC's in June and to those on our mailing list for they can make plans to attend. Most of our accommodations are already booked for that weekend. We are still in need for someone/organization to take on the Children's Corner - activities for kids can do, we provide the funding. Also need something to take the place of the inflatables. There will be a concert on Saturday evening again.

Thanks to everyone who donated Titan t-shirts. There are now three Titan t-shirt throws out. They are on display at City Hall, Commerce Bank and Labette Bank, where you can purchase a chance for $1 or six for $5. Each is different and will be given away on Saturday evening of the all school reunion.

This week:

Tuesday, May 15 Chamber Coffee, Farm Store at 510 E. Walnut from 8 to 9 a.m. Come out and see what is new in the way of pet supplies, toys, clothes, etc. I have heard many times "We don't shop there as we are not members of co-op". You don't have to be a member to shop at the Farm Store and they have all kinds of neat things. Be sure and drop your business card in the drawing for the $25 Columbus gift certificate, if no one wins it will increase to $50 at the June coffee.
