BAXTER SPRINGS - Coffeyville’s Lady Golden Tornadoes softball team came to Baxter Springs with a 4-14 record, and went home with their 15th loss against the Lady Lions, on Senior Night. The Lady Lions finished the Lady Nados 21-6 in four innings.

Coffeyville started with three runs in the opening stanza. They began with a Baxter Springs error on a bunt and then a walk, followed with two base hits.

Baxter Springs plated eight runs in their opening inning after batting 12. Kennedy Krokroskia started with a free base. Ryleigh Sills moved her to third on a successful bunt, then stole second. Allie Fry hit into a 5-3 sacrifice scoring Krokroskia. Delainy Anderson singled in R. Sills, and went to second on the play at home. Anderson moved to third on a wild pitch. Kortney Sills scored Anderson on a right field error.

With Jaden Schnoover entered as a courtesy runner for catcher K. Sills. Olivia Roller moved Schnoover to third on a base hit. Asylynn Potter singled and stole second. Jenna Lawson walked. With the bases loaded Taylor Gibson received a base on balls and a RBI bringing in Schnoover. With Potter, Lawson, and Gipson on base Potter came across on a wild pitch, with Lawson and Gipson moving up. Another wild pitch scored Lawson. Krokroskia walked. R. Sills laid down another good bunt to plate Gipson. Krokroskia went to second with the play at home. Krokroskia later scored on another wild pitch.

Coffeyville went to six runs in the third inning for their final runs on two lead off singles, a leftfield error, and another base hit. Baxter Springs went to 12 runs on the scoreboard in their third inning. Gipson began when she went over the leftfield fence for her second homerun of the season. With two outs R. Sills singled, and stole second. Fry was hit by a pitch. Anderson then hit a 3-RBI dinger over the left centerfield fence.

With a 12-6 lead the Lady Lions decided to end the game with nine runs for a run rule in the fourth sending 11 batters to the plate. Roller led off with a single, stole second, and went to third on a wild pitch. Gipson singled in Potter. Krokroskia and Fry singled. Krokroskia came across on a wild pitch, and the two runners moved to third and second. Anderson with a base hit brought in R. Sills. Fry came in on a wild pitch, and Anderson went to third. K. Sills walked. Courtesy runner Schnoover stole second. Roller singled and plated Anderson. Potter hit into a 4-3 sacrifice bringing in K. Sills. Lawson singled to score Roller. Not finished, Gipson singled again scoring Lawson.

Being Senior Night, three Lady Lions finished their BHS careers on their home Field Of Dreams diamond. Outfielder Ryleigh Sills, catcher Kortney Sills, and first baseman Taylor Gipson. Their years of being a great asset and leaders will be missed by the Lady Lions.

With a 10-8 record Baxter Springs will be seeded #1 in the Class 4A Division II regional, held Tuesday in Columbus. The Lady Lions are scheduled for a first pitch at 3:30 p.m., and will face the 0-20 Parsons Lady Vikings.

Galena drew a #2 seed with a 10-10 record, and will face host 7-11 Columbus following the first match. The two winners will then play for the right to go to the state championship, starting May 24 in Salina.
