COLUMBUS - The Cherokee County/Columbus and Baxter Springs Girl Scouts are again preparing for the annual Girl Scout fair kitchen. The fair kitchen will be open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, July 23 through July 28, the week of fair. The menu will have the fair favorite McComack slaw burgers and slaw dogs, along with hamburgers, cheeseburgers, coneys, hotdogs, chili, Bar-B-Q pork, dinner plates with ham or hamburger steaks and choice of green beans, old fashion and German potato salads, cole slaw, cottage cheese, tomatoes or baked potato. There will be desserts of pies, ice cream sundaes and floats. There is still more, come check out our menu. Carry out orders are always available.
Girl Scouts and adults are encouraged to sign up for shifts to work at he the fair kitchen. Extra adult help is always needed and you don't have to have anyone in scouts to help out. If you are unable to work a whole shift, there is a clean up shift from 9:30 to about 11 p.m. you can sign up for which is a big help to those working the evening shift. Donations of tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers and pies are needed and very much appreciated. (Tomatoes are served only if enough are donated.)
Wednesday July 18 and Thursday July 19 at 5 p.m. will be work days to finish getting things ready and start making potato salad. If you can help in any way, please call and let Debra know. Any additional work needing to be done will continue on Saturday July 21 after training.
There will be training for girls and adults new to fair kitchen or those wanting a refresher at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 22.
