BAXTER SPRINGS - Local motor vehicle enthusiasts don't have to wait for the grand opening of Decades of Wheels in October to get their classic car fix. Thanks to the KMO Cruisers Car Club and Monarch Pharmacy & Soda Fountain, the spirit of Route 66 is being kept alive with their monthly family-friendly cruise nights.
KMO Cruisers is a car club based in the tri-state area with members from Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, and host periodic events along historic Route 66 in the area. They've been teaming up with Monarch Pharmacy to host cruise nights, a family fun atmosphere and full of entertainment for all, including: Games, 50/50 raffle, door prizes, dash plaques, trophies, grilled food, and some of the best ice cream you'll find along the Mother Road.
The most recent event was held on July 21, but a few more are planned in the near future. Monarch will again host the event on Saturday, Aug. 18. Later this fall, KMO will return to Baxter on Sept. 15 and Oct. 20. Cruise nights will also be held in downtown Cherokee on Aug. 3, Sept. 7, and Oct. 5.
KMO says anything with wheels is welcomed and registration is. Contact the KMO Cruisers Car Club Facebook page for more info.
