Good Morning,

It is great to have a change from the hot summer weather. Enjoy, I'm sure it will not last long.

We Welcome our newest Chamber Member - Lucky T's Bait & Tackle, 4094 SW 160 Hwy, owned and operated by Scott Thomas. The new business will be seasonal, April - October, has all kinds of bait and fishing supplies. We will be doing a ribbon cutting shortly. Drop by and Welcome him to our business community, and if you fish, this is the place to get your supplies.

Do hope you all enjoyed the county fair. I'm sure all the 4-H'ers and FFA members thank you for their support, and especially if you purchased an animal on Saturday evening.

The CDF committee is still in need of someone to handle the Children's Corner from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, the SW corner of the square. It is just a matter of doing activities with the kids, the committee will give you funding. It is a great community service project. If you can help let the Chamber office know.

Space is still available for craft and commercial vendor space, all food space is taken and overflowing, you should have plenty of choice in the way of food. If you need brochures, we still have one box left in the office, that means that we have already distributed four boxes (that is 1,000 per box). Advertising has been booked in several different media's in the Kansas City, Wichita and across the state. Will be working with the TV stations shortly.

Will soon be putting together pilot gift bags, if you have something to put in them, coupons, freebies with your business name, etc., bring them to the office - 12 are needed.

The City Celebration is also gathering things to be placed in the time capsule that will be opened in 2068. They would like to have several things from the business community showing our many different businesses. If you have something you would like to place in the capsule, bring it to the Chamber office by the end of August.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Chris Award, to be presented during the Miss Columbus pageant, Sept. 29. Send a letter to the Chamber office, marked Chris Award, telling what your nominee has done in the community as a volunteer and promoting Columbus. We need those by Sept. 10.

The committee is also accepting boys and girls who would like to participate in the Little Mr. & Miss Columbus contest. Children must be between the ages of three and five and reside in the USD 493 school district. The winner of each will receive a motorized vehicle, the winner is chosen on amount of funding they bring in, through tickets sales. Will accept registration through Aug. 27. Winner will be announced at the Miss Columbus pageant.

There are still a few Sesquicentennial coins and books available in the office for $7.50 each.
