Lots going on. This is the last day, 3 p.m., to sign up for the Little Mr. and Miss Columbus contest. At present, we have two little boys, so we know we will have a Little Mr. Columbus - no girls yet, but have had several calls about it this morning. So if your kids or grand kids are interested come into the office and register them NOW.

Marilyn Epler of the Miss Columbus committee will be calling on businesses this week for donations with the Miss Columbus pageant. Donations will be used toward the scholarship prizes and toward the girls gifts. There are six girls participating in the Miss Columbus program this year; they have really been out doing community service - you have seen them help with the golf tournament, 4th of July activities, Easter Egg Hunt and during fair week in the Lions Shack, this has been a great bunch of girls to work with. If Marilyn doesn't catch you, you can always leave/send it at the Chamber office. The pageant is Sept. 29.

Thanks to the City of Columbus for picking up the sponsorship on the last balloon. We could still use some crew for a couple different pilots. If you would like to crew contact the office. We also just found out that we need a judge for the balloon regatta on Saturday. Scott has been doing it for years, but he just found out that his son qualified for the state 4-H shotgun competition on that day. He will do on Friday evening and Sunday morning - it is very easy, you just measure from the center of the X, to the drop.

Registration is open for the Scarecrow contest during the Columbus Day. Scarecrows can be placed in your business window or at a light pole on Maple. Scarecrows must be in place by that Friday, noon and taken down (if on a pole) Saturday evening. Register with the office.

Kari Soper and members of the Education committee, have started working on the Golden Apple for this year. If you would like to sponsor ($100) let us know. Your name will appear on all announcements/programs. The committee will again give two awards - one for K - 6th grade and one for 7th - 12th plus Columbus campus of Coffeyville Community College.

The Ag committee is looking for vendors for the Ag EXPO to be held Sept. 20 at the 4-H Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you cater to members of the agriculture world this is a great way to showcase your products and make the public aware of what you offer. Four workshops will be offered to the public.
